about

Briefly tapping back into this hellish algorithm for the sole reason that I want to announce to the internet void that today marks the day we drop the last of the unreleased/scattered Hives Inquiry Squad songs.

That's it. There aren't anymore hidden Hives tracks hiding on some old laptop that needs a special cord in order to power up. There aren't any more "oh yeah, remember that one!" type joints living anywhere in the ether. Ain't no nothing nowhere.

It's a beautiful feeling knowing that everybody gets to hear as much of Gavin as I do. It's a heartbreaking realization knowing that there isn't anymore Gavin verses that I can pull out of dusty devices like they're maps to the wise man who lives on top of the mountain a thousand miles away.

It's officially the last of the music that Gavin and I made together, and I think if we would have dropped these 10 songs as an album when we were playing live shows, we would have had all the other performers, both rappers and folk artists alike, on some, "Change the order, it's no way we can rock after them."

I've been reminiscing about how, about 6 months before he passed, he, knowing he was going to die soon, started writing a song called "At Least I Won't Die Screaming." It was about how he was going to die before the inevitable Civil Wars, Climate Crises, Government Coups, etc., so even though he was going to die before the rest of us, at least he wasn't going to die in the same horrific way that we were going to die.

El Oh El
What a dick.
Hopefully, he's not a prophet, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was because Gavin was one of the wisest people I've ever met.

Do yourself a favor and soak some of that wisdom up from him (while tolerating my verses) and bump the new new (which is really old old).
